100 Years Strong
Since Monroe Shine’s founding in 1925, the firm has evolved from a one-person accounting practice into one of the largest, independent certified public accounting firms in the Indiana and Kentucky region. The firm began in 1925 when William P. Stein started his one-man accounting practice in New Albany, IN. Louisville CPA firm Brown and Imhof purchased Mr. Stein’s practice in 1937 and thirteen years later in 1950, the firm became Brown and Monroe. In 1963, V.G. Monroe and J.R. Shine separated from the Louisville firm and established their own practice at the corner of Third and East Market streets in downtown New Albany, IN.
Growth was rapid and in 1978, the firm branched out with the creation of an office in the eastern part of Louisville, Kentucky. The New Albany office was expanded in 1999 to provide space for additional personnel. Since then, Monroe Shine has emerged as one of the most respected, independent certified public accounting firms in the region. 100 years strong and still growing!
